Discussion:
Disappearing tool panels

My tool panels are disappearing on screen. I can still scroll over where the
tools would be, and I get the names of the tools ( Page (D), Lasso (L), etc),
but the icons themselves disappear. I can solve this problem by dragging the
tool panels off the horizontal bar, and placing them back, but before I know
it, the tools disappear again. The key commands for tools still work, but I
would still like to see my tools! I've re-launched Freehand MX (11.02) and
re-started my computer, but I keep getting the same disappearing act.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

thanks!

Hi there,

not sure if this answers your question, but if you try Ctrl+F2 or go to Window
and click Tools, the tool bar reappears.

If this is not the problem, not sure if I can help.

Cheers,

Claudette.

HOW TO RECOVER MISSING TOOLBARS

Issue:
A toolbar has disappeared. The Window menu shows a check mark in front of
the menu item, but it is not visible.

Reason:
This occurs when a toolbar has been moved off the edge of the screen, or
the settings file that remembers the status of the toolbar has become
corrupt.

Solution:
There are several things that can be done to restore the missing toolbar.
To recover, try these three options (in the order listed):

1. Look around the edge of the screen for a small piece of the edge of a
toolbar. If found, try dragging it back to the desired location.

2. Delete the Toolbar settings file. Exit or Quit FreeHand prior to trying
this option.

Thanks, Bill! I deleted my toolbar settings, and so far, so good. Thanks for the tip.

I had a similar problem with the align tool panel not showing. I changed the
resolution of the screen to a higher resolution by using the windows properties
(right-click on any portion of the desktop), and then found the align tool
panel in one corner of the screen. I dragged it to the middle of the screen
and reset my resolution. This solved the problem.
