I know for sure that FreeHand 5.5 will run on Mac OS 9. It will run under
Classic OS with Mac OS X.

I fired up FreeHand 2 on an old Mac PowerBook 170 under OS 7.5 a while ago.

You might find some useful information on The FreeHand Source. Go to
Misc>FreeHand History
